In 2023 the dish size was updated to 4,5 m. The new radio telescope allows observations of the 21 cm line of neutral hydrogen, the observation of OH-maser emissions at 18 cm and continuum emissions within that two frequency bands. Installed on the institutes western terrace, it is used primarily by students during practical courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-6dfd01cb6c04eb6b71ceddda5f6548be\"><strong>First Light of the NRT<\/strong><\/h1>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"779\" height=\"648\" src=\"https:\/\/radio.univie.ac.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/FirstLight.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-220\" style=\"width:555px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/radio.univie.ac.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/FirstLight.png 779w, https:\/\/radio.univie.ac.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/FirstLight-300x250.png 300w, https:\/\/radio.univie.ac.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/FirstLight-768x639.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 779px) 100vw, 779px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On the 5<sup>th<\/sup> of September 2023 the first successful observation was started at 20h00 local time, recording a <a href=\"https:\/\/radio.univie.ac.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/MWScanPath.png\">transit<\/a> of the Milky Way Galaxy between galactic longitudes 87\u00b0 and 157\u00b0.
